Thinkfinity
During this class we were asked to explore thinkifinity.org and locate two lesson plans that we could use as part of an instructional unit in our class. Thinkfinity.org is a website that makes it easy for educators to enhance their classroom instruction lesson plans, interactive activities and other online resources. Thinkfinity has thousands of standards based lesson plans, resources, reference materials and more for both parents and teachers. These sites are perfect for supplementing lesson plans.

I have chosen two activities that align with lessons I teach in my classroom.

The first activity is an online interactive website that allows students to practice factors and multiples. I used this activity with a one week lesson on factors and multiples. Click below to see complete lesson.

The second activity I focused on was for vocabulary lesson. I will use this activity during my Civil War unit, but it is universal and can be used for various subjects and units. This site allows teachers and students to create and solve crossword puzzles. Students can use this as a study tool for vocabulary words for various units. Click below to see complete lesson.

Process for Choosing these activities:
I chose these activities only after spending some time exploring thinkfinity. Thinkfinity is a great site for educators and parents that compiles resources of varying media. Thinkfinity has videos, images, interactives, lesson plans and much more that parents and educators can use to help students review, practice and understand lesson material. I thought about what units I already taught and how I could improve or add to them. I put various unit topics in the search bar of the thinkfinity site and started exploring the results. I have been trying to incorporate interactives into the classroom, so I specifically looked for interactive sites that I could use in the classroom. Once I came across sites that I thought I could use I decided how I would fit them into my lessons.

Reflection:
I enjoyed this assignment because again it gave me the chance and time to look for resources that I could use in my classroom. It allowed me the opportunity to explore how interactive web sites and other online resources could help my students study or practice their work. With the growing world of technology, our students are more likely to enjoy working on the computer to study rather than reading in a textbook. Thinkfinity is a great site that has done all of the leg work and compiled numerous activities and resources that we can use in our classroom.
